Antoinette "Toni" Beuerman passed away peacefully in her home on August 29, 2026 at the age of 97. Toni was born in March 1929 in Inglewood, CA to immigrant parents Anton and Antonia Baur. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Fr. Francis Baur, Fr. Joseph Baur, and Alfons Baur, her daughter Lisa, and her husband Harvey Merton Beuerman.
Toni married Dr. Robert Small (d.2017) and had six children. Steven, Laura, Katheryn (Kim), Kurt, Lisa, and Jonathan. Toni and Robert eventually settled in Merced and built their home on South Bear Creek Drive. They later adopted their fourth son Matthew. Toni and Robert divorced and she obtained her LVN license and spent her nursing career working for Dr. Greg DiCarlo (d. 2026). Toni later met and married Mert Beuerman (d.2024). Toni and Mert were both very strong in their Catholic faith and spent much of their time involved in the church community. Toni had the most joy in life from taking care of and enjoying her home. She walked the nearby orchards and tended to her garden every day. Always a lover of animals, she rescued countless stray dogs and cats that found their way to her home.
Toni is survived by her children Steve and Patti Small, grandchildren Robert and Jacqueline, Laura Small, BV and Katheryn Rao, grandchildren Meagan and Kiri, Kurt and Lydia Small, granddaughter Taylor, Jonathan and Kim Small, grandchildren Alexandra and fiancé Ian, Zachary and Wing Zee, and Matthew and Catherine Small, and grandson Jacob, and by stepsons Douglas and Darla Beuerman, grandsons Alex and Derek, and stepson Steve and Yvonne Beuerman, grandsons Brian, Isaac, and granddaughter Anna Rose.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's church in Merced on September 11th at 11am. A rosary will precede the mass at 9:30am.
