Arturo Michael Vargas

Artie was born on March 9, 1988 in Atwater, CA, to Arturo and Leslie Vargas. He grew up in Delano and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating high school. Artie was a third generation veteran and a very proud U.S. Marine. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and received numerous medals for his service to his country. After his military service he went on to become a Federal Correctional Officer at the Mendota Federal Correctional Institution.

Artie loved spending time with his family whether it was exploring new places around California or just a quiet night at home. He enjoyed listening endlessly to music, working out, gardening, cooking for his loved ones, and was always making people around him laugh. He also loved being a youth wrestling and football coach. Artie was proud of his military service, his career, his family and the life he lived.

Our beloved Artie leaves behind his wife Diana, son Joshua, daughter Katalina, father Art, mother Leslie, brothers Nick, Tommy and Marc, sister Renee and many loved ones that will miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with the Vigil Service with Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, CA, 95340. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 519 W. 12th Street Merced, CA.
