When I first came back to Planada, I took on a huge fundraising role with the LGHS football program. Oh, so many challenges.

And how many times did I call Ben and say, "Hey, what do you think about ..." or "I'm having trouble with ..." or "I need your help. I need you to talk to so and so ..." Then he would tell me what he thought, give advice and make happen what needed happening.

I am so thankful I had him as a sounding board when it mattered.

Officially the Chavez family has claimed a piece of you since birth. We'll keep a piece of you in our hearts always.

Ben, we grew up together in Planada, I was friends with all of you guys, Jess, Brian, Jimmy, and Jon. Your parents Jess and Betty allowed me to be part of your family as I was always around your house, I enjoyed every moment that we all shared. I'll never forget the day you gave me my own shirt when I went along with you on your delivery route and then was given a job by Jess. Will never forget the night you propped me up against my front door and rang the doorbell and drove away, my mom opened the door and I fell face first into the house. It's times that that I will always remember. Rest In Peace my Compa.

Benny
You brought love to my sister, strength of character to your children, and inspiration to your community. It has been a privilege and honor to have called you my brother-in-law.
I wish that I had the foresight to have told you how much I appreciate the few years that we worked together on the Margarita's route. I know that I was not the most pleasant or agreeable person to have worked with back then, but you managed me with patience, kindness and respect. I didn’t realize it until much later in life, but what I was witnessing in your behavior towards me all those years ago, was the beginning of the Grace that you shared with so many for the rest of your life.
Oh, and you also gave me the greatest nickname EVER.
