Known as Reny to her siblings and Bernie to the Merced Community, Bernita was active in many organizations such as Tops, the Merced Women's Club, and the Bellevue bowling league. She played keyboard and sang in a local Country Western band. She was a devout member of the Central Presbyterian Church. Bernita was well known as an Avon lady for her love of their products
Bernita was a loving, caring mother and wife who was always willing to help others. Being a country girl from Valley Falls Kansas, she loved everything about country western, being outdoors and gardening.
Bernita is preceded in death by her Husband George Ralph Miller, daughter; Sheryl Martinez, parents; Ross Norton and Beulah Norton, grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Alcock, brothers; Cecil D. Norton, Willis L. Norton, Bernard D. Norton, Russell K. Norton, and sisters; Wilma J. Lines, Wanda Jackson and Beverly Shatswell.
Bernita is survived by her children; Alen Givens (Susan), Randy Givens, Becky Sue Grissom and Nancy Jo Rumrill (Tim). Her stepchildren; Jeannine Fleming (Launie), Bernice Simpson and Brian Miller, brother; Robert L. Norton (Sue), and sister-in-laws; Ann Moore and Lynne Ackerman. Bernita is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
