Betty A. Clendenin
January 14, 1943 – November 4, 2018
Betty was born to Lorene and Carl Pasley in Merced, Ca where she lived her entire life. She has one sister, Carlene Jean Cunningham (Jim Cunningham), who was her lifetime best friend. She attended Le Grand High School and was active in the band. She played the clarinet and performed as a majorette. She was also a cheerleader. Betty graduated in 1960 and went on to Fresno City College where she enjoyed living with friends. She soon married her husband of 54 years, Lincoln Ellsworth Clendenin. They had three children, Susan Ann Clendenin Kearns (Jim Kearns), Gary Lincoln Clendenin (Irene Hernandez), and Shelly Marie Enos (Anthony Enos). While she worked as a bank teller for several years and as a teacher’s aide for nearly twenty, her true profession was taking care of her family and anyone else that needed her care, including her beloved animals. Betty loved visiting the ocean with her family and was happy just watching and listening to the waves. She also took great pleasure in reading mystery novels. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and stepfather, Kenneth Leake. She is survived by her husband, children, and five much loved grandchildren, Patrick Kearns, Austin Kearns, Annie Enos, Jack Enos, and Katie Kearns, as well as her nieces, Kelly and Jill, and her nephew, Michael. At her request, there will be a private family graveside service. If anyone would like to make a charitable donation in Betty’s name, her family suggests the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the charitable organization of your choice.
