Betty Lorraine Mooneyham Lee, age 90, of Winton, California passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Born Betty Lorraine Lee in Gardnerville, Nevada to parents Robert E. Lee and Clara May Davis on July 1, 1934.
She married Richard Mooneyham in 1954 and together they raised three sons: Steve, Bill and Scott. Her husband was a butcher when they married working for Purity Stores, but they soon opened a butcher shop in Winton, California with his brother and his wife called Mooneys Meats. After 4 or 5 years they decided to become almond ranchers and bought a ranch in Winton, California in 1969 where they lived until their passing, her husband passed in 2002.
Betty loved to cook and do crafts becoming a very good seamstress making clothes for her sons, making many quilts and blankets. She was a member of the Winton First Southern Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons Steve (Estela), Bill (Tina) and Scott (Diane), 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In the last eight years of her life, she had dementia and had to be cared for daily, her daughter in law Estella took on this challenge and lovingly cared for her, showering her, dressing her, doing her makeup and hair, making her breakfast and lunch daily. She was Betty’s angel, Betty told her often, “you are my angel, I don’t know what I would do without you.”
A viewing will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Winton First Southern Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with the service following. Graveside Service will follow at Winton Cemetery District. There will be a luncheon to follow at the church.
