Carmen Genevieve Briones

Carmen Genevieve Briones, 78, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013. She was born on October 3, 1935 in Merced, CA where she enjoyed her life and raised her four children. She passed away in her home at peace with the Lord, with her loving children and grandchildren by her side.

For 22 years Carmen worked at Merced City School where she retired and was a long-time member of Sociedad De Oro. She had a great sense of humor, loved to dance and sing her Mariachi music. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and had many fiestas in her backyard that we will always cherish. Carmen you are loved and will be dearly missed.

Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Briones; parents, Francisco & Dyniece Pena; sisters, Christina Venegas & Frances Pena; and brother, Richard Pena. She is survived by her brother, Frank Pena; children, Rita Abril, Joseph & Pauline Padilla, Connie & Carol Naranjo, and Jesse & Eva Diaz; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Vigil Service with Rosary will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 4:00pm-6:00pm with reading of the Rosary to be at 6:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 519 W. 12th St., Merced, CA on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 1:00pm with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
