Dolores Marie Hutton, 87, of Atwater, California, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025. Born on August 6, 1937, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Dolores lived a life marked by her profound faith, unwavering devotion to her family, and a passion for serving others.
As the firstborn of seven children to Anna and Lee Brown, Dolores grew up with a strong sense of love and responsibility. She married her beloved husband, Lorry Wayne Hutton, on August 6, 1960, and eventually brought their family to Atwater in 1977, where they became lifelong members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Their shared love of travel took them across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and the South Pacific, creating cherished memories of exploration and adventure. Dolores was preceded in death by Lorry on June 19, 2019.
Dolores was a dedicated nurse for over 30 years, touching countless lives with her compassion and care, and later became a member and former president of the Mercy Medical Center Volunteers. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Wayne Hutton (married to Angela), Liana Weskamp (married to Doug), and Alan Hutton (married to Mele). Her legacy continues through her five cherished grandchildren and six beloved great-grandchildren, who filled her heart with joy.
Known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to her faith and family, Dolores left an indelible mark on her community and all who knew her.
A private ceremony and internment will take place at the San Joaquin National Cemetery on July 11, 2025. Friends are invited to a celebration of Dolores’ life that will take place at the Italo American Lodge (1351 W. 18th St, Merced, CA) beginning at 2:00 pm.
Dolores’s life was a testament to the words of Psalm 91, her favorite scripture, which speaks of dwelling in the shelter of the Most High and trusting in God as a refuge and fortress. Dolores found her refuge in God, and her life’s impact remains a shelter for those she loved and served. Her memory will forever be a blessing. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
