Ellen June Weber
March 11, 1943 – November 30, 2018
Ellen passed unexpectedly on November 30, 2018. Ellen was born and raised in Merced and was the eldest daughter of Ward and June Morris. She graduated from Merced High School in 1961. She attended at that time, Merced Beauty College, became an instructor and then attended San Francisco School of Electrolysis. She worked for Irene's Beauty Shop and Mary's Beauty Shop in Atwater.
After her marriage, she moved to Clovis and then to Fresno where she worked at numerous jobs before taking the job at Champion Seed Company where she worked for many years, retiring from there. Since Dad always had a garden, Ellen would keep him supplied in a wide variety of vegetable/ herb seeds, which Dad planted and kept the neighborhood supplied with the harvest.
Ellen was an avid water skier, loved to hike, camp and line dance. She and our Mother performed line dance routines with the Merced Senior Jamboree at the Merced J.C. After her retirement she became involved with the North Point Church in Fresno. She did a lot of volunteer work there. In doing so, she made several lifelong friends. Ellen enjoyed her Bible Study group, shopping with her Fresno friends and having lunch. She loved being with her cousins and sister, Laurel in Merced. Like all cousins doing what cousins do best, everyone talking at once.
Ellen, being a true patriot , in honor of her father, uncles and cousins, took great pride in placing flags, crosses on the Veterans grave sites at the District Cemetery and in Snelling for Memorial Day.
Ellen is preceded in death by her parents Ward a WWII Veteran and June Staley-Morris of Merced, numerous cousins and friends.
She is survived by her sister Laurel Morris- McGowen; brother-in-law William R. McGowen and numerous cousins and friends.
Ellen's family wants to extend a very special thank you to Michelle, Sue, Norma, Rita and Bob, Bill and Grace for being so helpful during this difficult time.
DeDe, you were always and will continue to be my big sis. William and I will miss our visits to Fresno, having lunch and a Sam Adams beer. I will miss our sis to sis conversations that only sisters understand.
