Emmitt Stanford Minor AKA “Bud” was born in Bedford County, TN on January 10, 1928 and passed away on August 14, 2012 in Merced, CA at the age of 84.
Bud was known as a proud American who served his country proudly. After military retirement Bud worked with his brother Eldon at Ace Savage in Merced. Later he would Co-own Ace Pipe & Steel in Merced. He was a member of the Merced Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1240, VFW, Civil War Re-Enactment, Club Mercedes, Valley Vintage Car Club, and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Bud was past commander of American Legion Post #83, former commander for the Honor Guard, and volunteered for Disabled Veterans.
He loved to collect and restore antique cars, trucks, and caterpillar tractors. However, his prize collections were his military army jeeps which were featured in numerous local parades.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Euless Mose and Mary Leota Foster Minor; daughter, Carolyn Minor James; and brother, Roy Minor.
He is survived by his wife whom he married 67 years ago on April 26, 1945, Shirley Minor; daughters, Marilyn & Michael Armstrong of Omaha, NE, Janet Parson & Kevin Filgas of Mariposa, and Linda & Jimmy Smith of Merced; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA 95340 on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 2:00pm-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 10:00am with burial to follow at Merced District Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 4600 Roseville Rd. Ste. 130, North Highlands, CA 95660 or the American Heart Association, PO Box 1325, Merced, CA 95341-1325.
