Felix was enlisted in the United States Air Force for 22 years. He joined at the young age of 18, where he was stationed at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, Ca.. It was here that he met his wife Cecilia Espinosa. The two of them along with their children traveled to many places. Felix served in Vietnam and was also stationed at Amarillo, Laredo, Texas and Grand Forks, North Dakota. After retiring from the military, Felix opened his own upholstery shop, Merced Auto Upholstery; He enjoyed Ping-Pong, camping, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and football in general, and watching western movies.
Felix is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Helen; his sister, Jesse Ramos; his brothers, Rudy Martinez, Manuel Martinez, Trini Martinez and Henry Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Martinez; his children, Kim Benson, Michelle Hobbs and Mark Martinez; his grandchildren, Celeste, Johnika, Heidi, Levi, Evan, Blaine and 6 great grandchildren; his brother, Fred Martinez of Springs, Texas.: sisters, Mary Hurtado, Helen Martinez, Rosie Carizales, Gloria McGlasson and Lin Garcia, all of Texas.
There will be a memorial mass held for Felix on May 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Merced California. Interment will follow at a later date at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
