Floyd Glendale Harmon was born December 7, 1935, and passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2026, at the age of 90. He passed away with his wife of 72 years Beverly (Testerman) Harmon holding his arm.
Glendale was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Delbert Clair and Gladys (Hall) Harmon. Eventually, the family settled in Planada, California where his parents and siblings ran their dairy until it was sold. Glendale and his siblings attended Le Grand High School where he served as his class and F.F.A. president his senior year.
Glendale and Beverly met in grade school around the age of 12 and would later get engaged their senior year. Just a short two weeks after graduation, they were married on June 22, 1954, at the Merced Presbyterian Church. Four years later, Beverly gave birth to their first-born Tambra and two years after, their son Dale.
Glendale and Beverly settled in Le Grand, California where he carried on the values he learned in high school to serve his community. He was an active member of the Le Grand Lion’s Club and served as President for two terms. He also served on the Le Grand Community Day committee, Le Grand 50+ Club and was a member of the Le Grand Methodist Church.
Glendale’s main passion in life was to work. He worked as a dairyman, plowman and farmer until he landed a permeant job as an operator for Operating Engineers Local Union 3. After 33 years of hard work with the union, he retired at the age of 60.
Glendale’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, storytelling, traveling, and DANCING with his beloved dance partner. During his retirement years he developed a new passion in life and that was his love for classic cars. Glendale and Dale built his 1955 Chevy Bel Air from the frame up. Once the restoration was complete, the Harmon’s joined the Valley Vintage Car Club. Glendale and Beverly made many friends after joining the club and became big supporters of many events in Merced County including parades and fairs.
Glendale and Beverly now have five granddaughters - Valerie Garica (Alejandro) and Jill Harmon, daughters of Dale and Heather Armenta, Hilary Carter (Shay) and Hannah Gonzalez (Nicholas), daughters of Tambra Armenta (Edward) as well as three great grandchildren - Allie, Sienna, Taven, and one great- great grandson Cain.
