Gary Howard Prine

He was born on February 13, 1938, in Merced to Howard and Juanita Prine.

Before he went to rest in the loving arms of Jesus, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a loving friend to many.

He spent 12 years with the Merced Police Department and at least 25 years as a general contractor, working most of that time with his son, Chris Prine.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; Howard and Juanita Prine; 3 children, Greg Prine, Lori Mendonca and Chris Prine; 2 brothers, Steve Prine and Mark Prine, and a granddaughter, Angela Huff.

He leaves behind his wife Karen; daughter, Susan Zirnhelt; sister, Judy Hyde; son-in-law, Rick Mendonca (Sharon); and daughter-in-law, Wilma Prine. He also leaves 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Everyone loved him, so he also leaves many dear friends.

A private graveside will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, with a reception following for everyone in the Hoffmeister Center at Central Presbyterian Church at 12:30 p.m.
