Grant Ford passed away February 24, 2021 in Merced, California. Grant was born August 27, 1938 in Corinth, New York to George and Grace Ford. He was retired from the United States Air Force (1956-1976) and served in Vietnam, was a member of D.A.V. and V.F.W. He also was a Seven Eleven Franchisee, owner operator of San Joaquin Valley Towing and San Joaquin Valley Transport.
Grant’s pastime was Stock Car racing, which he did in England; he was also a track champion here in Merced. He did sports car racing in Okinawa, Japan and he loved his tow trucks and car hauler. He attended church at Christian Life Center, Merced. Grant enjoyed playing Texas Hold-Em, and always had peanut butter and diet Pepsi at hand. He also loved to travel and was a very patriotic man.
Grant is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Ford of Merced; his children, Annette Quin of Oregon and Gary (Kandice) Ford of Mississippi. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie Williamson of Oregon, Rabecca Barnes of Oregon, Chad Ford of Ohio, Garrett Ford, Sean Ford, Madison Ford, Kaitlin Ford, Crystal Ford all of Mississippi; great grandchildren, Angel Ford and Logan Ford of Nevada and Serenity Ford of Ohio.
Grant is preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace and his first wife, Marguerite Ford and stepson Jeff Califro.
A visitation will be held for Grant on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street, Merced. The funeral service will start at 2:00 pm on the 11th. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Merced District Cemetery, Merced.
