

Higinio Nava Yanez, age 69, was born on October 3, 1956, in Michoacan, Mexico, and died on September 15, 2026. He will be remembered with deep respect and abiding love by all who were blessed to know him. A man of steady devotion, Higinio’s life reflected a faithful spirit expressed through service, family, and the quiet strength of daily commitment.
For 35 years, Higinio served as a teacher before retiring, offering the gift of learning with patience and purpose. His dedication to education stood as a lasting testament to a life spent investing in others, shaping minds and futures through consistent care and responsibility.
Higinio’s faith was central to who he was. He served as a Deacon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Planada, from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno and was a member of The Knights of Columbus. In these roles, he lived out his convictions with humility and reverence, offering his time and presence in service to the Church and the community.
Higinio is survived by his wife, Martha Alicia Yanez; his children, Fabian, Cesar, Javier, Pablo, Alvaro, and Abraham; his brothers, Socorro, Ricardo, Esteban, and Daniel; and his sisters, Maria de Jesus, Maria Yubanina, Amanda, Maria Etelvina, Irma, and Rosalina. He is also survived by 7 granddaughters and 5 grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eutimio Yanez and Hermila Nava, and by his grandparents.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9317 Amistad St, Planada, CA 95365, on October 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Rosary will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on October 1, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 671 E Yosemite Ave, Merced, CA 95340, on October 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 260 W Childs Ave, Merced, CA 95341.

Higinio Nava Yáñez, de 69 años, nació el 3 de octubre de 1956 en Michoacán, México, y falleció el 15 de septiembre de 2026. Será recordado con profundo respeto y un amor inquebrantable por todos aquellos que tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo. Hombre de constante devoción, la vida de Higinio reflejó un espíritu de fe expresado a través del servicio, la familia y la fortaleza silenciosa de un compromiso diario.
Durante 35 años, Higinio se desempeñó como maestro antes de jubilarse, ofreciendo el don del aprendizaje con paciencia y propósito. Su dedicación a la educación fue un testimonio perdurable de una vida dedicada a invertir en los demás, moldeando mentes y futuros a través de un cuidado y una responsabilidad constantes.
La fe de Higinio era fundamental en su vida. Sirvió como diácono en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón en Planada, perteneciente a la Diócesis Católica Romana de Fresno, y fue miembro de los Caballeros de Colón. En estos roles, vivió sus convicciones con humildad y reverencia, ofreciendo su tiempo y presencia al servicio de la Iglesia y la comunidad.
A Higinio le sobreviven su esposa, Martha Alicia Yanez; sus hijos, Fabián, César, Javier, Pablo, Álvaro y Abraham; sus hermanos, Socorro, Ricardo, Esteban y Daniel; y sus hermanas, María de Jesús, María Yubanina, Amanda, María Etelvina, Irma y Rosalina. También le sobreviven 7 nietas y 5 nietos.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Eutimio Yanez y Hermila Nava, y sus abuelos.
El velorio se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón, 9317 Amistad St, Planada, CA 95365, el 1 de octubre de 2026, de 4:00 p.m. a 6:00 p.m. El rosario se rezará en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón el 1 de octubre de 2026, de 6:00 p. m. a 6:30 p. m.
La misa de funeral se celebrará en la Iglesia de San Patricio, 671 E Yosemite Ave, Merced, CA 95340, el 2 de octubre de 2026, a las 11:00 a. m. El sepelio tendrá lugar en el Cementerio Calvary, 260 W Childs Ave, Merced, CA 95341.
