Irene Duran Torres was born to John and Enedina Duran in Atwater, California and passed away on November 22, 2023 in Merced California at the age of 98. She married the love of her life, Lawrence Torres on February 10, 1947 and moved to Merced where she lived until her death. Irene worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Torres, her parents John and Enedina Duran, daughter Lorraine "Lorrie" Torres, son Larry J. Torres. Brothers, Joseph and Chris Duran. Sisters Tillie Duran, Margaret Lupercio, and Sally Olson.
Irene is survived by her son John "Sonny" Torres daughter-in-law Martie, grandson Michael Torres, (Samantha) great granddaughter Scarlett Torres. Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Irene was involved in Gateway Lioness, President for 3 terms: American Legion Auxiliary, President for 3 terms and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. In retirement she found great pleasure in sewing and being active in the church.
Funeral service will be on December 22, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church in Merced. Rosary 9:30am, Mass at 10am, burial at Calvary Cemetery directly following mass. In lieu of flowers the family ask that you donate to Sacred Heart Church, Maintenance Fund.
