Irene Jule Yapit

Irene Jule (Jones) Yapit was born July 15, 1935 to Jim Jones and Rose Alice Johnson-Jones in Mariposa, CA. After a long battle with Diabetes and Dementia Irene left to be with Jesus on May 1, 2016 in Merced, CA at the age of 80 surrounded by her loved ones.

Irene was a homemaker to her family and husband of 44 years. She worked as a cook in the mountain communities of Mariposa-Madera Counties. She had a very generous soul and opened her doors to all. Irene loved to go to the casino, fish, garden and cook with her husband, daughters and grandkids.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents; Rose Alice Johnson-Jones and Jim Jones,

son; Joe Gonzales.

She is survived by her husband; Felipe Yapit, sisters; Dorthony Mazko and Loretta Allen, children; Ron, Rick, Kathy, Carlo, Lupe Jr., Anthony, Julie and Liz Gonzales, Lisa Morrow, and Felipe Yapit Jr., 32 grandkids, 48 great grandkids and 8 great-great grandkids.

A vigil service will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street Merced, CA on Friday May 6, 2016 from 4p.m.-7p.m. On Saturday May 7, 2016 a vigil service will be held at Apostolic Tabernacle Church located at 2745 East Highway 140 Merced, CA from 10a.m.-12p.m. with a funeral service starting at 12p.m.
