He grew up working with his hands beginning with feeding the calves before school, harvesting figs and almonds, working in all areas of construction, partners in ABC Door Shop and as a teacher.
Throughout his life, Joe embraced many roles: a man of faith, son, brother, dedicated coach, and above all, a proud father and grandfather. He had a lifelong passion for the SF 49ers, Giants and Warriors, a deep appreciation for music and a special fondness for Ford Mustangs reflecting both his energy and spirit.
Joe’s life was defined by loyalty, humor, parties with his family and friends, and all things centered around food. Mastering the art of barbequing on all types of grills and smokers he donated his time for many community events and private parties. He also introduced his wife, children and friends to the Portuguese Festas around the Valley, having participated in the parades as a child, rating the sopas each year in order of taste.
Recently he would tell his family to always remember the happy times with family and friends, eating and celebrating always with music and laughter. Making memories for the big and little moments of life is important.
