John Vernon Fairfield

John was born on November 13, 1931 to John and Louise Fairfield in Great Falls, Montana.

John served his country in the United States Airforce and was active during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, John eventually settled in Merced, California where he lived for 48 years. John married his loving wife, Donna M. Fairfield. Together they had two children, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

John enjoyed gardening, reading Western books, and fishing for bass. He also was an avid music lover and the family's proclaimed "breakfast king". He was also a member of his church, Christian Life Center in Merced, California as well as the Merced Bass Club.

John is survived by his children Kathleen A. Spelman of Chowchilla, California and Timothy J.W. Fairfield of Woodstock, Georgia in addition to his six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, William E. Fairfield of Las Vegas, Nevada and his brother in law, Larry McLane of Merced, California. John is preceded in death by his wife, Donna M. Fairfield and his parents, John W. Fairfield and Louise E. Fairfield.

A visitation for John will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, CA 95340. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 25, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Internment will be private.
