John was a member of the American Council for the Blind, where he believed in striving to increase independence, security, and equality. He enjoyed astronomy, exploring the solar system and gazing up at the stars.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Mabel Gasper; brother, Manuel Gasper Jr. and his sister, Kathleen Faulkenberry-Thomas.
He is survived by his brother, Frank E. Gasper of Snelling, California; sisters, Linda L. Correia of Merced, California, Barbara J. Taylor of Merced, California and many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at the Snelling Cemetery on Friday, June 17, 2016.
