Joseph Marks Souza Jr.

Joseph was born to Joe and Mary Souza in Merced, California on August 4, 1943. He lived in Merced most of his life, but previously lived in Mojave, San Jose, Escalon and Modesto. He worked as a Telecommunications Manager and a Cattle Rancher.

Joseph enjoyed serving his community and was the Past President of St. Johns Festa and founding member of the Escalon Festa. He served as the past Noble Grand of the Oddfellows, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Merced Elks Lodge #1240 B.P.O.E., Woodcarvers of Merced and the Merced Runabouts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mary Souza and sister, Eleanor Giebeler.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Sandy Souza of Merced; sons, Mike Souza of Sacramento and Joey Souza and wife Crystal of Atwater and brother, Frank Liberini and wife Lorri. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church, 2615 Turlock Road Snelling, CA. Burial will follow at Snelling Cemetery.
