

Juan Y. Cienfuegos (Pops) was born on January 31, 1951 in Pharr, Texas to Apolonio and Carmen Cienfuegos. He passed away in Stanford, California. He was a resident of Merced for 56 years. He worked as a bus driver and maintenance for Central Valley & Opportunity Center in Winton, California. He attended Merced High School and was affiliated to the Imperials Car Club.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents Apolonio and Carmen; his sibblings, Hector Cienfuegos, Manuela Perez, Martha Dixon, and Olga Bailon; and his nephew Steven Raymond Diaz III.
Juan is survived by his loving wife Laura Cienfuegos of 47 years; his children, Juan (Gina) Cienfuegos, Steven A Cienfuegos, and Nicolas (Susie) Cienfuegos; his brother Apolonio Jr.; his sisters, Alicia Ysquierdo, San Juana Castillo, Criselda Perez, Reyna Garcia and Terry Diaz; his grandchildren John P, Corissa and Nicolas Cienfuegos, Michael A. and Brian A Gonzales; and his great grandson James D. Gonzales.
Juan was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, Oakland A's and the Los Angeles Lakers; he was a family man that always sacrificed to see his family happy. He will be greatly missed.
There will be a visitation held for Juan on February 16, 2018 from 2-7:00 pm at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, located at 1490 B Street, Merced, California. The rosary will follow visitation starting at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on February 17, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Merced, California, at 9:00 am, with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Merced, California.
