Juan Cota

February 17, 1962March 15, 2013

Juan Cota was born in Modesto, CA but has lived in Merced the majority of his life. Juan Cota was suddenly taken from us on March 15th and will be forever missed by many family members and friends. He was very family oriented. He enjoyed watching and attending his two favorite teams, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco Giants, games. Also, bowling, BBQ for family, camping, fishing, going to casinos and doing a variety projects. He had a big heart and would help anyone and everyone that he could. He was a father figure to many people in his life. There are a few sayings that describe him “Anything you needed, he had it or he would find it”, “If it was broken, he’d fix it” and “If it was old, he’d bring it back to life”.

Juan is survived by his wife, Debra Cota; son, Juan Cota Jr.; daughters, Linda and Rosemary Cota; daughter-in-law, Kia Lee; son-in-law, Daniel Vega; granddaughter, Layla on the way; brothers, Jesus, Herman, Frank, Ralph, Higinio (Kino) Jr. and Fred Cota; and sisters, Maria (Terry), Trini and Connie Cota. Juan was preceded in death by his dad, Higinio (Kino) Castello Cota; mom, Mary Olga Cota; brother, Manuel Cota; and sister, Emily Cota.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA. from 4:00pm-6:00pm with Recitation of Rosary to follow at 6:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, corner of Canal St. & 21st, Merced, CA at 10:00am with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Hwy 59 & Childs Ave., Merced, CA. Following the interment a reception will be held at the Sierra Hall at the Merced County Fairgrounds.

He had spent many years watching his sport teams, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco Giants, play so please feel free to wear either team attire or your choice in his honor for the services.
