Kevin Dale Carter, 64, a lifelong resident of Merced, California, will be lovingly remembered for his generous heart, love of sports, and willingness to help others.
From his youth, Kevin had a passion for baseball, finding success on the field and carrying his love of the game throughout his life. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and road trips, finding joy and a deep connection to nature along the way. Above all, Kevin was loved for helping people and being someone others could count on.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Margaret Ortiz; his stepson, Hector Ortiz; and his sister, Susan Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Peggy Carter; his brother, Greg Carter; and his sister, Joni Carter.
Family and friends will gather for “Kevin’s Walk-Off Grand Slam” on November 8, 2026, from 2–5 p.m. at MGCC in Merced, California, to honor his life and share the memories that will keep him close to their hearts.
