Lina Antola passed away peacefully on June 7, 2012 in Merced, CA at the age of 97. She was born in Milano, Italy and became an American Citizen in 1945.
She and her husband, Pietro, owned and operated Antola’s Restaurant for over 20 years. Antola's was a gathering place for local residents, travelers and celebrities to eat authentic Italian food and to celebrate with family and friends. Lina's love revolved around her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Lina was a hard worker, with a heart of a servant, caring and compassionate. She had a strong faith in God, and a sense of humor throughout life. Lina will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and the enjoyment she received from sharing her food with others. She touched the lives of many with her giving. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Italian American Federation, attended numerous Bible Studies, and Novenas.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pietro and her courageous son-in-law, Ray Cyr.
Lina is survived by her daughters, Gloria Kohn (Bob) of Los Banos and Maria Cyr of Merced; her son, Peter Antola of Chowchilla; stepdaughter, Sandra Greco (Jim) of Los Banos; her grandchildren, Jason Cyr (Suzy) of Portland, Jennifer Villalobos of Los Banos, Ryan Cyr of Merced, Amy (Joel) Merkel of Santa Rosa, Rosalie (Arthur) Ramos of Los Banos, Jimmy (Diana) Greco of Los Banos and Johnny Greco of Monterey; as well as numerous Great Grandchildren and Great, Great Grandchildren. The family would like to especially thank Lina’s caregiver Yolanda Pulido. Special thanks to physicians: Lidia Rodriguez, MD and Dan Ikemiyashiro, MD and Hinds Hospice.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 , 9:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 617 E. Yosemite Ave, Merced, CA followed by Recitation of Rosary at 9:30 am and Mass at 10:00 am. Burial is private.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
