Margaret Ruth Garber
September 29, 1929 – November 1, 2018
Margaret was born to William Floyd Helton and Rosa Belle Brooks in Granger County, Blaine Tennessee and passed away at the age of 89 in Merced, California.
When Margaret was nine years old, she traveled to California from Tennessee with her parents, brothers; Henry, Claude, Tom, John, Carl, Roy and his sisters; Grace, Dorothy, Katherine and Lois. They settled in Empire when Margaret was in 3rd grade. She married Emory L. Garber on March 11, 1947 in Modesto. They had four children, all are still living. Charles (Terry), (Sue, deceased) Pomona, Tim (Julie) Merced, David (Kathy) Oregon and Margie Lightfragon (Frosty) Red Bluff.
Margaret was proceeded in death by her husband Emory (8-20-2006) and all of her brothers and sisters with the exception of Carl and Lois who are still living.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
Margaret held many jobs including, fountain cook at Woolworth; cook and waitress at Greyhound in Modesto and San Francisco; retail cashier; file clerk and lastly cook and helper at Old Oak Ranch, (Four Square Camp) in Sonora. She played organ and piano at the Foursquare Church in Red Bluff where Emory was a minister. She loved to crochet, knit, read and doing crossword puzzles she especially enjoyed fishing. She was most happy being with family.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 9th at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park located at 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, California.
