Margaret Lopez

Margaret Lopez, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin and friend, passed away on August 8, 2026, in Forest Grove, Oregon. She was 83 years old.

Margaret was born on January 18, 1943, in Tempe, Arizona, to Maria Correa Lopez and Francisco Lopez. She was, at the time of her passing, the last surviving member of her family of ten siblings.

Margaret was a woman whose heart was filled with love. She loved everyone unconditionally and had a special way of making people feel loved and accepted. Family was very important to her, and the love she gave continues through the generations of her family.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Lopez, who passed away on January 4, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Margaret Helen Garnica, her son, Alvin Garnica Jr. II and her great-grandson Alvin Garnica IIII.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Garnica Curry and Mary Garnica Grundon; her grandchildren, Alvin Gilbert Garnica Jr. III, Juan Jose Vasquez, Jr. II, Michael Christian Grundon, Amber Noel Marston and Dyllun Kanekoa Rae Grundon; and her great-grandchildren, including Alvin Garnica Jr. IIII, who passed away before her, Melissa Garnica, Gabriel Garnica, Emily Garnica, Marcus Garnica, Isaiah Vasquez, Madeline Vasquez, Diego Vasquez and great-great granddaughter Charlotte Santos.

Margaret was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Forest Grove, Oregon. Her faith was an important part of her life and the foundation of the love and compassion she showed to others.

Margaret had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Her singing was one of the special gifts she shared with the people around her, creating memories that her family will carry with them always.

In March 2019, Margaret moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Garnica Grundon and Jeff Grundon, in Forest Grove, Oregon. Mary and Jeff lovingly cared for their mother in their home, where Margaret spent her final years surrounded by the love and care of her daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Mary and Jeff’s home became Margaret's final resting place, where she passed surrounded by the love of family.

Margaret's life was a testament to unconditional love, family, faith, and kindness. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her beautiful voice, her faith, and the countless memories she created with the people she loved.

Though Margaret is no longer with us, her love will live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and all those whose lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
