Maria Lucia Azevedo Sousa

Maria was a resident of Dos Palos, California for 53 years. She attended DayOut ADHC in Merced and Day Break Adult Day Health in Atwater, California.

Maria is survived by her brothers, Joe Inez Sousa of Dos Palos, Fred (Manuela) Sousa of Dos Palos, Armondo (Melissa) Sousa of Lodi; sisters, Mary (Ken) Elliott of Merced, Trinda Azevedo (Joao) of Hanford, Marylou Santos of Hanford, Carmina (Joseph) Leonardo of Los Banos, Cidalia (John) Santos of Hanford, and two sisters-in-laws Carmen Sousa of Dos Palos and Idalina Sousa of Rockland. Maria also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria das Neves Azevedo Sousa, father, Jose Luis Sousa, two brothers Manuel and John Sousa and one brother-in-law Jorge Santos as well as her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with vigil service with rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, California 95341. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1650 Lucerne Ave, Dos Palos, California 93620. Interment will follow at Dos Palos Cemetery District, 1800 Elgin Avenue, Dos Palos, California 93620.
