Maria Jesus Ortiz

Maria Jesus Ortiz, age 77 passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Maria Jesus was born December 23, 1946 in Sahuayo, Michoacán, Mexico. She was a housewife and took care of her grandchildren. Maria was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved to dance and be around family and friends.

Maria is survived by her children Julio (Fabiola) Ortiz, Hilda (Juan) Terrazas, Norma Ortiz (Oscar Ponce), Susana Ortiz and Janette (Adam) Purslow; brothers Jose Maria Arroyo Jr. and Enrique Arroyo; her sisters Guadalupe Sanchez, Maru Arroyo, Martha Cacho, Marcy Arceo Arroyo, Amalia Morin and Lili Arroyo; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Juan Ortiz; her parents Jose Maria Arroyo and Maria Castillo, daughter Normita Ortiz; brothers Salvador Arroyo and Jose Luis Arroyo.

A visitation for Maria Ortiz will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced, CA 95341. A rosary will occur Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. following with a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 562 W 13th St, Merced, CA 95341. A graveside service will occur Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Winton Cemetery District, 7651 Almond Ave, Winton, CA 95388.
