Marvin went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2013. Marvin was born in Detroit, MI to Harold and Laura Poupard. At a young age Marvin lost both his parents and was raised by his grandmother and aunt.
On January 7, 1954 Marvin enlisted in the Air Force and served on the flight lines as a re-filler during the Korean conflict. After an honorable discharge, Marvin and the love of his life, Sylvia lived in Sturgis, MI where he worked for a milk processing plant. In 1962, the family moved to Merced, CA. Marvin worked with his father-in-law, Arthur James at Merced Awning and Drapery. In 1966, Marvin went to work for PG&E, where he dedicated 27 years as a meter reader and a customer service representative, until he retired in 1992.
Marvin was a member of the Hornitas Lodge 98; Merced Elks Lodge 1240; Merced Old Timers Assoc.; and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheryl Moore; adopted son, Mathew Johnson; sister, Audrey Radford; and brother, Donald Poupard.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Poupard; brother, Art (Rosie) Poupard; daughter, Terry (Mark) Roduner of Merced, CA; grandchildren, Angela Amaral of Gustine, Kristi (Fred) Morales of Merced, Phillip (Lisa) Sargent of Atwater, Mark Jr. (Patrice) Roduner of Stockton, and Scott (Liz) Roduner of Merced; and 12 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Marvin’s life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00am at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1455 E. Yosemite Ave, Merced, CA. Burial services will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 12:30pm.
