Mary Fatima Carmo

Mary Fatima Carmo, born October 13, 1953 to Joe and Anna Rosa, passed away September 1, 2021 in Merced, California. Mary was a retired Dietician of 30 years at the La Sierra Care Center. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mary adored her family, especially her 7 grandchildren. She loved traveling to the Azores, going to Monterey, camping and going to the Portuguese Festas. She was so selfless and always put her family before herself. During retirement, she cared for her parents and grandchildren

She enjoyed going to watch her two grandsons, Brayden and Mason race their mini late models and watching her other two grandsons, Noah and Aidan play football. She also loved to attend her granddaughter Emily’s dance recitals and watching Khloe cheer at school games. Mary was also so proud of all of them for being involved in the FFA and showing their livestock projects at the fair. She had a huge heart and she will be deeply missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Garcia Carmo, her parents, Joe and Anna Rosa and son in-law, Scott Duval and her sister Inez Avila. Her daughter, Melissa Duval passed away a few days after Mary.

Mary is survived by her children, Rick (Laurie) Carmo of Atwater, Kristen (Brian) Alberto of Hickman and Cindy (Mark) Morton of Merced, and her brothers, Joe and Carlos Rosa. Also surviving Mary are her grandchildren, Nick, Noah, Emily, Aidan, Brayden, Khloe and Mason.

There will be a rosary service on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 starting at 9:30 a.m. with a catholic mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Merced, California. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Merced, California.
