Mary graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco and UC Berkeley. She was recruited to teach P.E. at Dos Palos High School in 1937 by then Superintendent Donald Bourne. There she met and married music teacher, Jay Jacobsen. Married women were not able to teach at that time, and Mary stayed home to raise her family. She later returned to the classroom in the business department, teaching a total of 37 years in Dos Palos.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and also by a sister and a brother.
She is survived by a sister, Joan Whaley of Palo Alto. Mary is also survived by daughters, Joanna Browning of Atwater and Janis Carrion of Dublin, CA; grandchildren Corbett Browning, Jennifer Euker, Kyle Carrion; great-grandchildren Marcia-Marie Rosson, Gregory Euker, Tanner Browning, Baylor Browning; great great-grandchildren Brayden Euker, Madison Euker, Rylan Rosson, Bryce Rosson and several nieces and nephews.
