Peter Ortega was born in southern California and passed away peacefully on April 25, 2015. As a young man, he joined the Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired after 20 years. While stationed at Castle Air Force base, he met and married his wife Dorothy in 1953 and were married for 62 years.
Pete loved his family, helping others, and most of all…making people laugh. He enjoyed ball room dancing with his wife Dorothy and would light up any room he entered. He loved travelling, ballroom dancing, photography, and fishing. He always wanted to improve himself, loved to learn, and was a big believer in getting a strong education. He’s was very proud of getting his master’s degree. He was a jack of all trades. He loved working on wood projects, mechanical projects, and many many other things. There was no challenge that he wouldn’t take on and get the job done.
Pete is generous of heart, kind smile, the life of the party, and remembered by many.
Peter was preceded in death by his son Daniel. Pete leaves his wife Dorothy, daughter Sylvia, son Martin, and daughter Laurie along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
A service will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
