After a courageous battle with cancer, Phyllis passed away in her home surrounded by family on December 30, 2017. She was born in Missouri, but lived in Los Banos and made Merced her primary residence. She graduated from Los Banos High School in 1967 and attended Beauty College. Phyllis enjoyed her work as a hairdresser for many years. She eventually worked for and retired from AT&T where she worked in customer service. Her hobbies included cooking and sewing, but she truly loved being “Nana” to all who knew her. Phyllis is preceded in death by her mother, Bell Grant, and husband Rudy Herrera. She is survived by her children, Marney Kramer, David Moen, Jennifer Atkins, and Shirley Moen; 12 grandchildren; and her companion, Tom Sanders. There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, located at 1490 B Street, Merced, California. The memorial service will start at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, located in Santa Nella, California, at 1:30 p.m..
