Porfirio was raised in Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon and then moved to Pharr, Texas along with several siblings.
He worked as a farm worker to provide for his wife, Elisa Gonzalez and eight children.
He is preceded in death by his wife Elisa Gonzalez, daughter Nora Sanchez following his parents, Virginia and Ventura Gonzalez, sister Lorenza “ Lencha” Escobedo, Sister Ramona Vela, sister Ana Maria “Anita” Cruz, his brother Jose Guadalupe Gonzalez, Sister Maria G. Gutierrez.
Porfirio is survived by his children, Maria Guadalupe Virelas, Dolores Gonzalez, Maria Del Carmen Gonzalez, Porfirio Jr. Gonzalez, Leticia Zuniga, Elizabeth Villegas and Jose Luis Gonzalez.
