Raul Rodriguez

Raul Rodriguez Jr., of Merced, passed away on June 21, 2014. He was born to the late Altagracia and Raul V. Rodriguez on April 9, 1944, in El Paso, Texas. He married Esperanza on December 2, 1970 and they raised a family in Merced.

Raul served in the United States Navy Seabees and completed two tours in Vietnam. He worked for AT&T and retired in 2002 after 30 years of service.

Raul was a member of the VFW Post 4327, American Legion Post 83, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 872, Vietnam Veterans of America and Club Mercedes.

Raul is survived by his wife, Esperanza; children, Vicky Bryan, Raul Rodriguez III and Rachel Rodriguez Daniele; siblings, Javier, Olga and Arturo Rodriguez, and Sara Rivas; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family, especially his granddaughter, Kristin.

A memorial service will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B St., Merced, CA on Monday, June 30, 2014, at 10:00am. Arrangements under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, Merced, CA.

Hope and Family,
Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time. Raul was a good man and a good team-mate on the club Mercedes softball team. He was always fun to talk to whenever my wife and I ran into him somewhere.

Mom-I am so so sorry. Dad was such a large part of our teen years. You both were. All these years later, I still find myself quoting him. And when he was part of the color guard for my grandpa's funeral, it was such a relief and blessing. I know he's at peace and I pray God will help you thru this time.
