Raymond Walter Mink
February 13, 1924 – April 6, 2018
Raymond W. Mink was born on February 13, 1924 to Walter and Rheta Mink. He was a lifelong resident of Merced, California. He passed away on April 6, 2018 of natural causes. Raymond attended and graduated Merced High School and Armstrong Business College in Berkeley, California where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Management Degrees. On July 17, 1949 he married Betty June Spears of Stockton, California, whom he met in the Yosemite Valley. Raymond worked for Cross Lumber Company (later Boise Cascade Corporation) as a bookkeeper and office manager from 1941-1984. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church for 94 years; where he taught Sunday school and served as an Elder, Trustee, Deacon and church Treasurer. He also helped to maintain and repair the historical church building. He was a member of Boots and Slippers and Romp-n-Stompers and danced throughout the West Coast area. He was a Boy Scout Troop 95 (sponsored by the Central Presbyterian Church), from childhood where he moved up in the ranks to eventually become a Scout Master. Raymond enjoyed traveling; he camped and traveled by RV with family and friends. He was a talented wood worker who made furniture and could fix anything. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Rheta Mink; his brother Charles Mink; sisters Bernice (Mink) Robinson and Ethel (Mink) Gaebe. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty June Mink of Merced, California; his children Rebecca Lynn (Craig) Ganes of Modesto, California and Jeffrey Scott (Kate) Mink of El Cerrito, California; his grandchildren, Gabriel Evan Caligiuri of Modesto, California, Dylan Michael Caligiuri of Los Angeles, California, Sylvan Rose Mink of El Cerrito, California and Finnegan Layne Phillips of Cerrito, California; along with 7 great grandchildren. There will be a graveside service held for Raymond on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, located at 1480 B. Street, Merced, California. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church, located 1920 Canal Street, Merced, California. Remembrances can be made to the American Heart Association.
