Richard Aubrey Featherston, Jr. was born on February 9, 1965 in Ceres, California and peacefully passed away, surrounded by family, at home on November 26, 2019 in Merced, California. Rich spent his first 31 years living in Ceres and eventually settled down in Merced, where he lived for the last 18 years. Rich is survived by his girlfriend Stephanie Bowers and her sons Josh and Jason; his children Bradley Tobey, Emily Dawson Featherston, and Alexandra Dawson Featherston;"his parents Richard (Patti) Featherston Sr.; " his brothers Tim (Andrea) Featherston, Scott (Debbie) Featherston, and Eric Featherston; his sisters Tiffany (Jackson) Bostwick and Amber (Rathana) Lim; and many nieces and nephews Zach, Jacob, Luke, James, Andrew, Jared, Kaili, Kimber, Delaney, Baron, Raymond, Emma, and Avery. He was preceded in death by his mother Donna (Ron) Sturm and his grandparents Edna and Noel Featherston. Rich was a man with a heart of gold who loved his family and friends. He was a life-long duck hunter, fisherman, and backyard gardener. Rich had a great sense of humor and enjoyed reminding everyone around him about his love for the LA Dodgers. He had a beautiful head of silver hair and stunning blue eyes and was often referred to as the “Silver Fox.” In Rich’s earlier years, he spent as much time as possible at the family’s duck hunting club. He loved everything about the duck club, especially spending time with his grandparents, working the land, and of course the duck hunting. After Rich’s children were born, he began to put his energy into his backyard. It was beautifully designed with flowers, plants, and a raised garden. Rich hosted an uncountable number of backyard barbeques, which offered delicious meals and a welcoming environment. For more than 19 years, Rich worked for E.R. Vine & Sons in Ceres. He began as a route driver, eventually moving on to Route Supervisor and Customer Service/Sales. Rich was a member of E Clampus Vitus, Ducks Unlimited, and California Waterfowl Association. Rich will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind many broken hearts and many excellent memories for all who had the privilege of having Rich in their lives. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 10:00am in Merced, California at the Stratford Evans Chapel.

Thank you for your patience, humor, sense of adventure and love. We will miss your smile and hanging out in the backyard but we are glad you are at peace. I know you are up with grandma and grandpa deciding where to hunt and with your mom deciding where to cause a ruckus, and that makes me smile. Miss you and love you forever Cowboy.
