**To Robert’s Family,**

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I wanted to share just how much Robert meant to me and to our Starbucks family.

Robert was so much more than one of my regular customers. He was one of those people whose presence could brighten the coffeehouse simply by walking through the door. I always looked forward to seeing him come in, get his coffee and bagel, and settle in for a while.

Some of my favorite memories are of Robert sitting near me while I worked on my manager admin. He would talk with me about life, his family, the trips he had taken, and whatever else was on his mind that day. Those conversations became such a special part of my days, and I will always be grateful for them.

And, of course, I will never forget his sense of humor. He loved telling my partners, “Just talk to Salina, she’ll hook you up with a raise!” It always made us laugh, and it is one of those little things I know I will think about whenever I remember him.

Even when I would see Robert at other Starbucks locations, he always made a point to say hello. When I recently moved to my newest location in Merced, it meant so much to me that he came to visit us there, too. My new team quickly got to experience the same Robert that so many of us had grown to love—positive, friendly, smiling, and always bringing a little happiness with him.

There are customers we serve every day, and then there are people who become a part of our lives. Robert was one of those people.

Please know that he made an impact on me and on so many of the partners who had the privilege of knowing him. His usual seat may be empty, but the stories, laughter, kindness, and memories he left with us will remain.

Robert will be dearly missed and very fondly remembered. I feel incredibly fortunate that our paths crossed and that, over coffee, bagels, work, and conversation, I had the opportunity to know such a wonderful person.

My deepest condolences to your entire family.
