Roque, originally from Los Angeles, CA was born in Sonora, AZ, on June 2, 1940, to the late David and Herminia Berlanga. Roque graduated from USC and received a Masters in Education Administration. After moving to Merced, in the early 90's, Roque served as Superintendent of Schools of Planada Elementary School District for over a decade.
Roque is survived by his loving wife, Olga of 32 years and his children Stephanie, Scott of Los Angeles, Roque of New York and Amanda of Santa Barbara.
A Rosary will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 671 E. Yosemite Ave. Merced, CA 95340. Funeral services will be Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with burial following at Calvary Cemetery.
