Rudolph George Herrera was born to John and Rosalie Herrera in Atwater, California on February 3, 1955 and passed away in Merced, California on May 11, 2011 at the age of 56 years.
Rudolph was a Merced resident for 28 years. He joined the United States Marines and served for six years at 29 Palms. After his honorable discharge in 1981, Rudolph began his thirteen year career with Darling International in Turlock; where he was the Foreman in the shop that did diesel mechanics and welding.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Herrera; and sister, Theresa.
Rudolph is survived by his wife, Phyllis Herrera of Merced; mother, Rosalie Herrera; sons, Johnathon Herrera of South El Monte, CA and Rudy N. Herrera of Merced; daughter, Alina Herrera of Merced; stepchildren, David C. Moen of Merced, Marney Kramer of Merced, Shirley Moen of Atwater, and Jennifer Moen of Merced; seven grandchildren, Allexandra Legendre, Rachel Moen, David B. Moen, Carter Moen, Steven Connell, Joseph Atkins and Shania Atkins; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. with a recitation of the rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Burial will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California.
