

Scotty was a Merced resident for 19 years and previously lived in Stockton and Modesto for many years. After High School, Scotty joined the United States Coast Guard, where he received an honorable discharge after 4 years of service. Scotty worked as a correctional officer at San Quentin State Penitentiary, and retired after 10 years of service. He was a proud member of the Merced Elks Lodge #1240 B.P.O.E.
Scotty was preceded in death by his father, James Duval; mother, Maria A. Fischera; brother, Ralph Duval; and sister, Stephanie Duval.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Duval of Merced, CA; children, Emily Duval of Merced, Travis Duval of Hughson, Teneya Merriam of Hughson, and Tyler Duval of Lodi; stepdaughter, Tina Marie Cross of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, James Duval Hardman of Bonnyville, Alberta, Canada, Thomas Evans of Rainer, WA, Isaac Evans of Washington DC, Jamie Bledsoe of Concord, New Hampshire, Chuck Evans of Freely, CO, and Jim Gaines of Doniphan, MO. Scotty is also survived by 6 grandchildren.
The Rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 671 E. Yosemite Ave. Merced, CA. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 260 W. Childs Ave. Merced, CA.
