Simon "Ray" Luvian

Simon “Ray” Luvian, 77, a resident of Madera passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 24, 2018. Simon also known as Ray was born on July 17, 1941 in Merced, California to the late Simon and Victoria (Busano) Luvian. Simon worked several jobs throughout his life, one of which was at the family store “Westside Market” in Merced. He also worked for many years in the Atwater School District in maintenance and the Madera School District for 9 years as school security where he retired from. Simon was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors and landscaping.

Simon is preceded in death by his parents Simon and Victoria Luvian; son, Raymond Luvian; daughter, Telvina (George) Conklin; grandson, Alfredo Diaz Jr.; brothers, Anthony Luvian and Lawrence Robles; sisters, Annie Villegas and Juanita Oka.

He is survived by his wife Guadalupe Luvian of Madera Ca.; daughters Debra (Paul) Pogrant of Ceres, Ca. and Lisa (Roger) Druhan of Wa.; son Ronald (Carla) Luvian of Nv.; grandchildren Cirisa Canillo and Sarah Decker of Wi., Christopher Luvian of Ca., Stefanie of Wa., Samantha Spies of Ca., Daniel Dorrell of Wa., Raymond Luvian, Gabriel Luvian, Dora Emily, Nicole Millward and Kayleigh Luvian of Ca.. Simon also leaves behind many great grandchildren and other family members whom he loved. Simon “Ray” will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street, Merced, California 95341.
