Thurman Gene Adams was born on March 14, 1935 in Shaw, Arkansas to Othella and Zee Adams. He passed away on August 18, 2011 in Merced, California at the age of 76.

Thurman received an honorary discharge from the U.S. Air Force and was a retired Receiving Clerk for C&H Sugar Company. He was previously a resident of Lucerne, CA for 25 years and was an active member of the Church of Christ. He relocated to Merced a year ago and became a member of the Bethesda Apostolic Faith Church Convalescent Ministry.

Thurman was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents, Othella and Zee Adams; wife, Laura Avis Adams; daughter, Yolanda Denise Adams; brother, Robert Floyd; sister, Lorenza McCrary; and brother-in-law, Fred McCrary.

Thurman is survived by children, Jeffrey Lee Adams of Richmond, CA, Lawanna Adams of Lucerne, CA, Eric G. Adams of Richmond, CA, Dierdre (Richard) Johnson of Merced, CA, Lavelle Adams of San Francisco, CA, and Tristan Adams of San Francisco, CA; brothers, Henry (Joyce) Adams of Richmond, CA, Aldoris (Belinda) Adams of Atlanta, GA, L.Z. (Ginger) Adams of Richmond, CA, and Rayford Adams of Delaware; and sister, Renee (Blaine) Lewis of Stockton, CA. He is also survived by 19 Grandchildren and 27 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 24, 2011 between 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m., 3:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at Stratford Evans Funeral Home in Merced. Atternment will be on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 1:30p.m. at the San Joaquin Cemetery Valley National in Santa Nella, CA.
