

Butch entered the Marine Corps in 1977 while living in New York and served through 1981, a chapter of life that reflected his steady sense of duty. He went on to work in construction and later in fracking and blasting with Clean Harbors. For the last seven years, he served as an apartment manager, bringing reliability and care to the everyday work of looking after a place and the people who called it home.
A proud Boy Scout, he carried a lasting appreciation for the outdoors. He found wonder in astronomy, patience in gold panning, and comfort in reading books. He was also an artist who loved to paint, expressing himself with a thoughtful eye and a quiet creativity. Darts, cards, chess and dice were his favorite past times.
Butch previously lived in Maine, England, Mrytle Beach SC, Philippines, Yuba City, and New York experiences that broadened his world and shaped the life he built over the years.
He is survived by his girlfriend of seven years, Debora Rose of Mariposa; his children, Gene Faust (Bugie), Kenneth Scott Faust (Kenny), and Anthony Avilez Trammell, all of Merced; his siblings, Maria E. Warzyca (Ernie Warzyca), Valora Teranishi (Steve Teranishi), and Joe Lee Trammell Jr.; and his grandchildren, Alaina Trammell, Gene Faust Jr. (Junior), Aubree Lily Faust, Cody Scott Faust Baria, Elizabeth Shalee Sanders, nieces Anita Torrez (Jonathan Torrez), Darlene Rawlings (Mike Rawlings), and nephew Joe Lee Trammell III. He also survived by 5 great nephews, 2 great nieces.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Shirley Trammell, and his grandparents, Bill and Opal Avilez. His nephew Shawn Robert Brunnell.
He will be remembered with respect for the life he lived, the work he did, the steady presence and unwavering support he offered to those who knew and loved him.
