

Services for Mr. Bobby F. Rivers will be held Wednesday, on April 27, 2011, at 2 pm in the Barham Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Rambo and Jim Wall officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Rivers, 66, of Meridian, passed away April 24, 2011, at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala.
Mr. Rivers graduated from Meridian High School in 1963. After completing an internship at Lloyd Noland Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., he earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Following a 40-year career in medicine, Mr. Rivers retired as Hematology Supervisor at Rush Foundation Hospital after 33 years of service. He served 24 years in the U. S. Air National Guard, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Mr. Rivers was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Meridian.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice Lyda Rivers of Meridian; daughters: Jennifer Rivers Young (Trace) of Tupelo, and Lesley Rivers Webb (Scott) of Charlotte, N.C.; grandsons: Trace and Cooper Young of Tupelo; brother, Wyndell Curtis Rivers (Carolyn) of Liberty Hill, Texas; sisters-in-law: Billie Rivers of Pekin, Ill., and Laura Lyda Rosich (Bill) of Smyrna, Ga.; nephews: Lance Rivers, Bill Rosich (Laura), and James Rosich (Michele); nieces: Stacia Rivers, Suzanne Rivers Crow (Allen), Judith Rivers Jackson (Lex), Stephanie Rivers Lenox (Dave), Shannan Rivers Slovon (Steve), Tracy Rivers Samsel (Kevin), Kristen Rivers Strobel (Steve), Becky Rosich Anderton (Brian), and Rosie Rosich Groover (Shane); and, many loving grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mavis and Curtis Rivers; and brothers: John Paul Rivers and Thomas Lamar Rivers.
Pallbearers will be Allen Crow, Lex Jackson, Jimmy Slay, Billy Britt, Garry Greer, Bill Nunnery and Edward Travis Lafferty.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cook Class at Central United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be today, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Barham Funeral Home, 7774 Highway 39 North, Meridian, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
