
C.M. “Buck” Buchanan, 89, of Meridian passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was born in Nettleton, MS to Gillie Medford and Lottie Park Buchanan. Buck served our country as a U.S. Marine during World War II and later graduated from Mississippi State University. He married Sylvia Katherine Buchanan, the love of his life, in 1947. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage.
Buck worked for Nabisco Brands for over 36 years, retiring as a sales manager. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was an active member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and wood working.
Buck was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Katherine Buchanan and his sister, Jean Buchanan Hartley. He is survived by three sons, Bill (Janet) Buchanan of Brandon, MS, Perry (Suzanne) Buchanan of Longwood, FL, and Alan (Cassandra) Buchanan of Magnolia, TX; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7 from 9 - 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to the Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church Building Fund.
