Funeral services for Walter S. Purvis age 78 of Meridian will be held Tuesday June 22, 2010 in the chapel

of Stephens Funeral Home at 2 pm with Rev. Roy Dabbs officiating. Burial will follow in Old Marion Cemetery. Mr. Purvis passed away Sunday June 20, 2010 at Rush Hospital. He was a US Army veteran,

member of Oak Grove Baptist Church , a loving husband, father and first class gardener.

He is survived by his wife Dot Holdcroft Purvis of Meridian, daughters Kay Henry and husband Bob

of Lakeland, FL, Janet Baird and husband Dennis of Kosciusko, MS, son David Purvis and wife Susanne

of Houston, TX, grandchildren Stephen Henry of Lakeland, Fl, Caitlin Webb and husband Ryan of Lakeland, Fl, Wes Baird and wife Bridget of Houston, MS, Drew Baird of Ridgeland, MS, Rebecca Purvis

and Timothy Purvis both of Houston, TX, great granddaughters Emily Grace Webb and Ella Grace Baird

and sister Aradasa Johnson and husband Sidney of Mt. Home, AR. He was preceded in death by a son

DeWayne “Peewee” Purvis. Pallbearers are Stephen Henry, Wes Baird, Drew Baird, Timothy Purvis,

Keith Thorne, Greg Caraway and Mike Beesley. Visitation will be Monday 5pm to 8pm and Tuesday

1 pm until service time at the funeral home.
