

Josephine Stampley Jackson left this earth for the “Blessed Assurance” of heaven on October 16, 2010 in Select Specialty Hospital, Jackson, MS. Mrs. Jackson was born Winifred Josephine Johnson and lived almost her entire life in Meridian, MS. She was transferred to Jackson, MS in 1973 by her employer at the time, Western Auto, and lived the remainder of her life there.
Mrs. Jackson was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was well respected and loved by all who knew her. She was a lifelong member of Highland Baptist Church in Meridian and touched many lives as she cared for the babies in the nursery there for many years. She was a past president of the Order of the Eastern Star in Meridian. She was an expert seamstress and spent her entire life making the people and places around her more beautiful with her creations. She worked for Hudspeth Center at Whitfield for 14 years caring for and mending the clothing of the clients there. She was an excellent gardener and spent most of her daylight hours working in hers or others yards. One of her brightest days was being selected for Yard of the Month by the Chamber of Commerce for her gardening efforts at Western Auto in Jackson. She loved being busy and everyone in her path felt her love and energy.
Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Clinton and Wilma Holloway Johnson, two husbands, John Leslie Stampley and Raymond “Jack” Jackson, an infant son, and a grandson, James Charles Boswell. She is survived by two daughters, Martha Boswell of Meridian and Jean Hughes Grobe of Brandon; 8 grandchildren, Michael Boswell, Joey Boswell, Angela Neely, Mark Boswell, Cherie Boswell, Heather Higgins, Heidi Noel and Robert Russell, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Viewing will be held Monday night, October 18th from 6 until 8 at Barham Funeral Home on Highway 39 and services will be Tuesday morning at 10 at Barham Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Bring your hanky…there will be tears of laughter from the wonderful memories of this precious lady and tears of sadness as we realize the void she will leave.
