Edward was born in Ste. Rose du Lac Manitoba in 1943. Throughout his childhood years, Edward was a farming boy in Rorketon Manitoba… the youngest of nine kids to Florence & Cyril Ziola. One day, he packed his jalopy and headed out west to BC in order to follow in his brother Boris’ footsteps and seek his fortune. He arrived in Clinton BC where he met and eventually married Mary Ann l’Henaff on September 29 1962. They would have two sons, Richard in 1964 and David in 1968.
Dad spent most of his career as an electrician - mainly at Highland Valley Copper from 1981 to 2008. At heart however… Edward was a writer and an adventurer having wrote numerous books, short stories and essays including the books Legacy of the Batchelor Hills (self published) and Shadows in the Wind (by Trafford Publishing). In addition, Edward was a treasure hunter – long before geo-caching became a thing. He knew what the REAL treasure was however and we are fairly certain that he found it. There is barely a square foot of land that has not been traversed by Edward in the mountains that surround the City of Kamloops. His brother Boris and best friend Henry Burdeney often tagged along with him on his zany adventures.
Edward was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann in 2018. Edward is survived by his brother Boris and sons Richard and David (Colleen) and grandchildren Paig, Michael, Josh, Sydney & Dayna.
